G.D. Somani team wins Mumbai finale of Inter School Quiz 2018
The National Insurance Inter School Quiz 2018 in association with The Hindu In School saw participation from more than 600 students from top schools in Mumbai and Navi Mumbai. The Mumbai City Finale was held at the Bombay Stock Exchange building, Fort.
The competition was open for students from Classes VIII to XII. Schools were allowed to register their teams online and offline. More than 300 teams took part in the preliminary round, and six of the top-scoring teams were chosen for the final.
In a nail-biting finish between G.D. Somani Memorial School, Mumbai and Bhavan’s B.P. Vidya Mandir, Nagpur, G.D. Somani’s Antara Bhattacharya and Anushka Bothra emerged winners in the City Finale, while Tanmay Chindaliya and Snigdha Chaudhuri from Bhavan’s B.P. Vidya Mandir were the runners-up.
The others who made it to the final were Jatin Rawat and Mrigank Shekhar from Navy Children School, Rishi Balse and Gautam Pillai from Campion School, Siddhant N and Sachhidanand M from Pawar Public School, Chandivali, Yashovardhan B and Jai Yadav from Navy Children School in the order of merit respectively.
The event was graced by Abhishek Trimukhe, DCP, Zone I, who encouraged students to read The Hindu and enhance their knowledge.
Gayatri Iyer, Chief Manager, V. Sudhakar, Regional Manager and Pradeep Chettiar from National Insurance gave away the prizes. Bombay Stock Exchange was the exchange partner for the event.
The winning team from Mumbai will be competing with winners from 11 cities for the national finale on August 31 at Kolkata.
