G.D. Somani was founded in 1975, with 250 students offering the SSC board of education. Today we are a vibrant centre of modern education under the ICSE board with 1400 students in Kindergarten to Grade 10.

We cater mainly to students who live in South Mumbai, but also have students who attend from as far away as Bandra.

1:15 in both the Primary and Secondary sections.

The curriculum prescribed by the Inter-State Board for Anglo Indian Education is followed from Grades 1 – 8. The school is affiliated to the council for the Indian School Certificate Examination for Grades 9 and 10.

A one-time, non-refundable Application Fee of ₹1,500 must be submitted to the school with the printed Registration form. The application process then begins but is not a guarantee of acceptance.

A one-time, non-refundable Admission Fee of ₹20,000 is payable when a student is granted acceptance to the school.

A one-time refundable Caution Fee of ₹10,000 is payable at the time of acceptance. This fee is refunded after adjustment for any sums owed when the student leaves or is withdrawn from the school.

Academic fees:
Grades 1 – 4:  ₹51,100 per quarter.
Grades 5 – 9: ₹52,900 per quarter.
Grade 10: ₹59,800 per quarter.
ISC:62,500 per quater.

School bus transportation, Field trips and all overnight trips.

Fees are payable in advance annually or at the beginning of each quarter. Unpaid dues may result in the student being struck off the rolls.

Fees should be deposited directly into the school account with cheques drawn in favour of “G. D. Somani Memorial School”. A specially printed pay-in slip and fee card is to be used for this purpose.

Fees can also be paid online.

The school year comprises three terms. The 2023-24 school year begins in April, 2023 and ends in March, 2024.
First term: April 5 – April 25, 2023; June 8 – July 14, 2023
Second term: August 3 – October 20, 2023
Third term: November 20 – December 19 2023; January 8 – February 28 2024

For Grades 1 through 10, school hours are from 7.45 am to 2.00 pm.

The School office is open from 8:00 am to 3:00 pm, Monday to Friday except for holidays.

The Principal meets parents on Wednesdays and Fridays between 9:00 am and 11:00 am only.

Co-ordinators and teachers of the Primary and Secondary sections are available between 2.05 pm and 2.25 pm on working days (except Friday).

The school is closed on Saturdays and Sundays and school business is conducted on school holidays.

In Primary, classrooms are large, airy, clean and stocked with learning materials including visual aids. There are laboratories and computer rooms. There is a new Auditorium for special occasions. The school runs a large, open air canteen to provide wholesome nutritious food for children during school hours. School counsellors and specialists are available as recommended. There is a doctor and School nurse on call and a well equipped school clinic.

Wholesome nutritious food is prepared fresh each day in the school canteen. Food is vegetarian and available at reasonable rates.

The G.D. Somani school uniform comprises of a white shirt and pants for boys and white shirt and skorts for girls. The uniform is worn with the school tie, school belt, white socks and black lace up shoes. If worn, cardigans or sweaters should be light grey in colour.

Office bearers and students participating in inter-school competitions are expected to wear blazers with the school logo in accordance with specifications provided by the school.

With a goal to provide a holistic, well rounded learning experiences to all our students, G.D. Somani conducts a variety of extra curricular activities through school clubs such as Interact Club, Nature Club, Red Cross, Girl Guides, Boy Scouts, Maths & Science Clubs, Cultural Club, RSP and Astronomy Club. Friday Clubs are conducted between 2:00 pm and 2:45 pm.

Computer literacy, training in athletics, football, basketball, gymnastics, swimming, cricket and table tennis under professional coaches; as well as arts and craft programmes are available at G.D. Somani.

The school has four houses – Satya (Blue), Abhay (Green), Vinay (Red) and Nyaya (Yellow).

Pride, unity and a healthy spirit of competition are encouraged among the houses in all fields of activity. Each of these houses have their office bearers, who help with discipline, planning and organising school programmes.

  1. Students seeking admission to any standard will be observed for admission in the school and the Principal’s decision shall be final.
  2. Students who join the school have to produce a valid birth certificate in support of the date of birth entered in the admission form. The admission of students from unrecognised schools is subject to departmental approval.
  3. Students who have attended any recognised school will not be admitted without a Leaving Certificate from the school last attended.
  4. Fees once paid are not refundable or transferable.
  5. Students once admitted cannot be withdrawn without one month’s notice or on payment of one month’s fee in lieu of notice.
  6. School Leaving Certificates shall not be issued unless all school dues are paid and all books and articles belonging to the school have been returned.
  7. The Principal reserves the right to suspend any student if their behaviour or progress is unsatisfactory.
